Tracking runs
Start & track a run
Everything you do during a live run — starting it, sharing the link, pausing, and finishing — happens in the VOY mobile app.
Start a run#
- 1
Pick your activity
Choose run, walk, hike, or ride. Your choice sets the label viewers see and how metrics are shown — see Activity types.
- 2
Add a title (optional)
Give the run a name like “Saturday long run” or “Chicago Marathon” so viewers know what they're watching. You can add a short description too.
- 3
Tap start
Your run goes live instantly. A public share link is created right away — send it whenever you're ready.
While you run#
As you move, the app streams your position and metrics live. You can:
- Watch your own live stats — distance, pace, heart rate, elevation
- Share a photo that drops onto the map where you took it
- See cheers and comments from viewers as they come in
- Pause and resume if you stop for a break
Starting a scheduled run
If you planned the run ahead of time on the web, its share link shows a countdown. When you start that run from the app, the same link turns into the live run automatically — everyone who bookmarked it is right there. See Schedule a run.
Pause & resume#
Pause when you stop — at a light, a water station, or a break. Paused time doesn't count against your moving pace, and viewers see that the run is paused rather than thinking you've stopped streaming.
End a run#
Tap end when you're done. VOY finalizes your totals and turns the share link into a recap — a replay of the whole run with your route, splits, charts, and photos. The recap link is the same URL you shared, so anyone who was watching can revisit it later.
Ending stops live sharing
Once you end a run, it stops broadcasting your location. Always end a run when you're finished so your live position isn't shared longer than you intend.
